EDC Rig 55 commenced drilling. - Saturday, August 16, 2008

EDC Rig 55 commenced drilling for Bapetco " Badr El Din Petrolum Company" on 12 August 2008 at 11.00 hours. The area of operation is Badr El Din area in the western desert of Egypt.
EDC Rig 55 is the first Rig among EDC fleet to include a fully automated driller's cabin, which assures higher saferty and efficiency standards.

Jack-up Drilling Rig “Sneferu” (Mitsui 200C – 45) was on 2 April 2008 at 15:00 hours handed over to new owners in international waters in the Mediterranean Sea.

 
EDC Rig 66 spuds on 20 March 2008 - Sunday, March 23, 2008


EDC Rig 66 commenced drilling for Khalda Petroleum Company on 20 March 2008. The area of operation is the Salam Area in the Western Desert of Egypt. Rig 66 was built by DrillMec, Italy. The design is a MR 8000, rated for drilling depth of 8,500 feet.

Rig 66 is identical to Rig 65 and Rig 64, which both likewise are working for Khalda in the same area of operation.

 
PPL celebrates striking steel for the Baker Marine Pacific Class Newbuilding P-2022 - Sunday, March 02, 2008

 
On 29 February 2008, a small celebration at PPL Shipyard in Singapore to mark Striking Steel for the Baker Marine Pacific Class newbuilding P - 2022 for Egyptian Drilling Company. P-2022 is scheduled for delivery on 31 December 2009. The new building will be capable to operate in water depths up to 375 feet and drill to 30,000 feet.

 
EDC Rig 55 Raises the Mast on 25 February 2008 - Sunday, March 02, 2008

 
EDC Rig 55 under construction at DrillMec in Italy, reached the milestone by raising the Mast on 25 February. The Rig is scheduled to spud in on 19 July for Bapetco in the Western Desert of Egypt. Rig 55 is rated for drilling to 20,000 feet.
