Rig Mechanical Engineer (Onshore)
Description
Required Duties:
o Shall be able to operate the emergency generator engine and all other engines using correct start, stop. Ensure that proper starting and warming up conditions and procedures are followed.
o Shall notify the electrical department to put prime movers and emergency generators on line when required.
o Shall monitor engine operation through periodic visual checks and referencing operating logs.
o Shall select which prime movers are to be used as load and which as stand by.
o Shall operate and ensure proper starting procedures for the air compressors.
o Shall monitor abnormal receiver and intercooler pressure, noises, vibration or other indications of malfunction of air compressors.
o Shall record running time and stage pressure of air compressors.
o Shall ensure that lub system is maintained and serviced at appropriated intervals on air compressors.
o Shall perform maintenance inspection and ensure proper operation of air compressors. Repair or replace defective parts as necessary.
o Shall maintain and repair heat exchangers and air dryers.
o Shall check heat exchangers gauges and make visual inspection of cores.
o Shall check air dryer inlet and outlet for temperature differences.
o Shall repair leaks and replace defective parts on the air dryers and heat exchangers.
o Shall monitor, repair or replace air regulators and all valves in air system.
o Shall maintain and repair all drilling equipment and associated components.
o Shall maintain and repair power end of mud pump.
o Shall maintain and repair centrifugal pumps in mud circulation and conditioning system.
o Shall repair mechanical components of mud conditioning equipment including the shale shakers, degasser and degasser vacuum pumps, agitators and any other mud conditioning equipment as necessary.
o Shall visually inspect swing bearings and races, safety devices, brakes, pneumatic and hydraulic lines and components, engine and other mechanical components for cracks, leaks, excessive wear, adjustment, working order etc.
o Shall service hydraulic and pneumatic systems, diesel engines and associated components such as radiators, governors etc; and all mechanical components including brakes, pumps, valves, bearings, sheaves, gears, filters etc.
o Shall assist other departments in equipment maintenance, repair or operation.
o Shall operate, install, maintain and repair additional or temporary mechanical equipment used for special operations.
o Shall perform tests, calculations and treatments.
o Shall use blue-prints, schematics, hand tools and power tools.
o Shall set schedules to ensure proper and economic utilization of equipment.
o Shall assist in maintaining appropriate logs and work records.
o Shall ensure preventive maintenance records are maintained, ensure engine room log is maintained and ensure daily log is maintained.
o Shall follow, understand and comply with Work Permit Procedures.
o Shall identify and respond to abnormal operating conditions and/or abnormal equipment usage patterns.
o Shall pay special attention to maintaining of safety critical equipment.
o Shall maintain and repair miscellaneous equipment to include but not limited to the following forklifts, load cells, casing and drill handling tools, hand tools, fuel systems and pumps, pumps of all descriptions. Repair galley and accommodation domestic appliances and service of hydraulic and pneumatic systems to include repair of regulators, filters, valves and calibration of gauges.
o Shall monitor fuel consumption.
o Shall perform or verify mechanical isolation. Perform or verify Lock out / Tag out.
o Shall record and report performed maintenance per Maintenance Management System (PMS).
o Shall ensure that EDC Safety Management System Procedures and Practices are followed.
o Shall make himself familiar with his roles and responsibilities in emergency situations.
Job Overview
Job Holder Qualifications:
- Relevant Engineering degree (Mechanical Engineer).
- 3+ years relevant experience as a Senior Mechanical Engineer.
- Good English Level.
- Good Communication Skills.
Responsibilities
- Job holder shall be overseeing and ensuring the efficient and safe operation of all mechanical systems on the rig. This includes diagnosing and resolving issues, implementing maintenance plans, and ensuring compliance with EDC standards.
